Theme – Big and Small

This was shot literally in the heart of nowhere.  I’m not sure how old it is.  I should have picked it up and taken it home!  I was off the path, in the middle of Sri Lanka where it’s quite possible no one has trecked in thousands of years…

  1. I am glad you left it as it reminds me of the verse of Omah Kayyam

”A Book of Verses underneath the Bough,
A Jug of Wine, a Loaf of Bread-and Thou
Beside me singing in the Wilderness-
    Oh, Wilderness were Paradise enow!

A remnant of life left where it lies, that is humanity.

  2. It would have been a shame to remove this from this place. Beautiful and tranquil.

  3. What a rare treat…I would have left it too for the next people to enjoy! It looks like it was staged just for you to capture, perfect composition!!

  4. These are great – I love that one is upright and the other has fallen over, you have a pair of contrasts within the image, and the repeating green is powerful as well.

  5. Bill, you simply could not have staged this and had it turn out as well. This is like it grew there, natural. Love the colors and composition – the way it sits and the way you captured it. Lovely.

  6. This photo is better than taking it home because you’ll always have it in its original setting. More valuable this way, in my opinion. Beautifully done and nice for the theme.

  7. Hi!
They are beautiful and you got the perfect shot of them. I would have left them there too. Have a great day!

  8. Great shot Bill. Hopefully they will remain there for a long time.

  9. Really beautiful, they look ageless. I’m glad too that you left them, it seems like the right thing.

  10. Wow, that is so cool! Probably ancient artifacts from a long-gone civilization. How neat to be able to see something like this. Great photo!

  11. Nothing to add to what’s already been said-wonderful shot. It speaks of a peaceful place.

  12. I’m glad you didn’t disturb it. Its beautiful. You captured it perfectly. Leaves much to the imagination as to how they happened to get left behind. Great color and textures.
